This Index has been created to enable access to the wealth of information contained in the Record of References. The Indexing project was begun by a number of volunteers who listed the data in great detail. We would like to acknowledge their enormous effort. In 2012 Marilla James returned to the project with a simpler version and the project was completed in 2019. The current index integrates the two stages, which explains why some entries contain more information than others. The Contents page of the spreadsheet (far left tab at the bottom, click left arrow if needed to see it) explains how the index can be used. This information is repeated below:
How to use the Index

ETC after a name denotes more than one spelling of that name
A small number of the entries in the Record of References may begin with a different letter from that of the surrounding entries. The Index entries for these have been placed in the correct alphabetical place in the Index, with a note drawing attention to where they may be found in the Record of References if not under that letter.
